This guidance note has been developed to help glass manufacturers assess the hazardous properties and waste classification of waste filter dust derived from flue gas treatment. It is not a standalone document and should be used in conjunction with the Environment Agency’s Guidance on the classification and assessment of waste, (1st edition 2015), Technical Guidance WM3, Waste Classification (WM3).

This guidance is available free of charge to British Glass members. Non-members who want to find out more about this subject should email information@britglass.co.uk

British Glass has also produced a spreadsheet to help determine the weight percent of each substance present from the XRF analysis results. This can be requested from the email address above.
