Under the Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM), every packaging component is assessed and given a Red, Amber, or Green (RAG) recyclability rating.
A green‑rated RAM means the packaging is widely recyclable, easy for the system to handle, and therefore earns lower pEPR fees due to its strong circularity performance.
Because green-rated items are the easiest to recycle, they receive reduced modulation fees under pEPR.
Government guidance confirms that RAM ratings directly affect disposal fees: green-rated packaging results in lower compliance costs.
