Incident and near miss reporting guidance

This guidance introduces the concept of near misses and helps organisations looking to implement a reporting system. It explains different types of incidents and raises awareness of the benefits and value of appropriate reporting systems – in turn contributing to the continuous improvement of health and safety performance across all organisations.

This guide was developed by a working group of the British Glass Health and Safety Steering Group, established in response to concerns raised by the Health and Safety Executive ( ) committee about a lack of understanding about how to monitor and act on near miss events across industry and business in general

Further sources of information and guidance are highlighted for those who want to find out more.
