Zero Stress Strength Reduction And Transition In Static Fatigue Of Fused Silica Fibre Lightguides

It is shown that the transition in slope of static fatigue (log fracture stress v.s. log time to failure) of fused silica fibres, is an intrinsic property of the glass which is modified by the presence of coating materials.
