Zabel Enters Vietname

German crystal maker Zabel will enter Vietnam in 2006 through a joint venture with a local company before consolidating and finally building a plant. Announcing their plans in November, Siegfried Zabel, chairman of the Zabel board, told a Thanh Nien reporter: "This is a potential market; we cannot wait any longer". He was speaking at the end of a 2 day survey trip in HCMC. He will next travel to Hanoi for the same purpose. The company envisages having two of its subsidiaries, Lausitzer Glashutte and Bizenburg, cooperating with Saigon Trading Corp, to sell industrial glass and glassware in 2006. The third largest crystal manufacture in Europe will then set up a distribution system and build a plant in Vietnam.
