[Yemen} New Flat Glass Plant Investment

A Yemen investor is planning to establish a flat glass factory, the first of its kind in Yemen. Procedures are currently finalized to commence the implementation of the US$40M project, whose annual production of up to 43,800 tons would begin in the second half of 2008, Mahmoud Dha'ain, the director of the project said. He made it clear that a contract was signed with the German Company GSG to conduct Consultative studies, analyze offers and supervise the implementation of the project. In addition to meeting requirements of local markets, the factory would export 25% of its production to African Horn and Gulf areas, he added.
