Yb3+/Pr3+ Co-Doped In Lead Cadmium Fluorogermanate Glasses

In recent years, there has been a great interest in the study of heavy-metal oxifluoride glasses because of their potential in photonic applications. Transparent glass ceramics have been obtained from lead cadmium fluorgermante glasses and in these systems the active ion is concentrated in the crystalline fluoride phase. These new materials have been proposed to replace heavy metal fluoride glasses because they are more stable against crystallisation and they display enhanced mechanical resistance.
