Wrap'S Glassrite Targets Bubbly

Champagne and sparkling wine packaging will be the the forces for the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) in the second phase of its GlassRite scheme. WRAP will investigate how the fermentation process impacts on the container used. It will also examine the scope for lightweighting and the viability of bottles weighing less than 300g. Champagne and sparkling wine bottles contribute 66,000 tonnes of glass to the UK waste stream. The second phase of the GlassRite scheme will run until November 2009.
