Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has announced it will provide £3.6m funding for 21 major R&D research projects. New recycling technologies and market opportunities will be investigated for recycling glass, plastic and wood. The first round of a £10m rolling research programme will stimulate a change in UK recycling levels. Laminated plastic sheeting, water purification media and particleboard are just some of the products which could provide a stable market for recycled materials thanks to the projects. The projects are aimed at increasing the use of recycled materials in the UK and more than 60% of the funding will be provided by WRAP, which is contributing over £3.6m towards the expected total cost of £5.6m.
