Wine Packaging Shrinks Down

Winemakers are moving to supply consumers with their drinks in single serve or smaller containers such as pouches, cans and minibottles in the US. The aim is to be able to offer more convenience to buyers by providing single serve portions. These packages contain, typically, 187ml wine each and usually contain lower priced average quality wine for home consumption. Winemakers claim that having to deliver their products in 750ml bottles has held back the growth in wine sales that they believe is there to be ad. AC Nelson, a market research company, says sales of wine in smaller packages are growing faster than sales of wine in larger bottles.
