Half of all windows made in Central & Eastern Europe will be made from pvc by 2007, predicts the research organisation InterConnection Consulting Group. The windows market in the region showed growth in 2004 for the first time in four years, with demand up 2.6% to 8.4M units. Improving real incomes in the new member countries of the EU have increased demand for better quality windows. Further growth is predicted, with the total window sales in the five EU member countries in this region reaching the same level as window sales in Germany by 2007. EU member countries in Central & Eastern Europe are Czech Republic; Hungary; Poland; Slovakia; & Slovenia. Demand slipped further in Poland during 2004, but the other four countries showed growth led by the Czech Republic where demand grew by 9.9%. (whole item)
