Windows Are The Weakest Link For Burglaries, Company Warns

A UK company is urging business owners to make their windows stronger in the light of figures showing that in over 30% of burglaries from commercial properties, robbers gain entry by breaking windows. Businesses are putting their buildings and merchandise at risk because their windows are unable to withstand the force of an opportunistic attack or act of vandalism, Solar Gard warns. "Businesses may resist the idea of upgrading their windows - even when the UK government acknowledges the high incident of "smash and grab" burglaries," said Peter Reece, UK MD for Solar Gard. The company recommends applying a window film such as its Armorcoat product for a cost-effective alternative to replacing existing windows with toughened glass. Window films make glass more difficult to shatter and hold the broken glass firmly within the frame if it breaks.
