The 12 October, 2013 marks an important step forward for any party in England and Wales seeking to establish a mineral title. On this date, manorial interests will cease to have overriding status under the transitional provisions enacted by the Land Registration Act 2002. The practical effect of this is that unless manorial rights are registered at the Land Registry, they will be of no effect against successors in title to the surface of the land.
