This article talks about three important developments which were eagerly expected as the publication went to press. The EC was to publish a "mini-package" of 20 out of 54 action points for its circular economy (CE) proposals; Defra was set to unveil the framework for its strategic 25-year plan for the environment; and the Government's chief scientific advisor, Mark Walport, had commissioned a report on waste-as-resource. The author goes on to say after the first ever slump in the UK's household recycling rate, they cannot come soon enough. [Note] the "mini-package" was released on 26 January, and can be downloaded from: europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-17-104_en.htm
