WFTV, (ABC TV affiliate in Orlando), broadcast a report on Feb 27, on ceramic tableware found with a Proposition 65 warning label at a local discount store. The news segment, which was similar to a story appearing on WPXI TV in Pittsburgh on Feb 4, featured a consumer who questioned a Proposition 65 warning label found on a ceramic plate. Lead check samples were taken from the ceramic plate which was the same item featured in the Pittsburgh broadcast. The TV investigator reported on lead-check test results for the ware in question & reported the same result that the Pittsburgh station reported using an unspecified laboratory test. The reporter indicated that the station had contacted FDA; however, it is unlikely that the station conducted the appropriate leaching test on the sample.
