According to a recent report by InterConnection Consulting, windows sales in Western Europe grew by only 0.6% during 2005. Overall sales totalled 76M window units, despite hopes for stronger growth. There are disparities between individual countries: sales in Norway, Sweden & Finland grew by 6.5%, 7.9% & 5.4% respectively during 2005 & are predicted to do well again in 2006, but growth will fall off in 2007 & could even reverse in Finland in 2008. France & Spain saw window sales grow by over 4% in 2005, but Spain is expected to see sales fall after 2007. German window sales fell by 6.6% in 2005, but the market should steady this year & growth will start in 2007, with some experts predicting 5.5% in 2008. Residential windows remain the major market sector, but growth of non-residential window sales is expected to outpace that of residential sales in the longer term.
