Because of an easy oxidation of Mo-electrodes, the effects of copper ions in different concentrations, of the duration of melting, of the melting temperature as well as of the electrode loading were investigated in a laboratory furnace. The duration of the melting and the melting temperature had the decisive influence on the wear of the Mo-electrodes. The concentration of Cu2+ ions and the electrode loading had lesser effect.
