A Wear Material For The Glass Industry

Carbon graphite has been recognised for many years as an effective hot glass handling material. Despite its inherent advantages, however, its use is limited in many applications by its relatively low resistance to wear and oxidation at temperatures above 500 deg C. This paper describes how a titanium carbide (TiC) coating on graphite provides an answer to this problem.
