In a bid to boost sales, Waterford Wedgwood has joined up with world famous designer Vera Wang to produce ceramic and crystal ware for the US Christmas market. Pointing to the success in the US of recently released products designed by Wang, Finance Director Richard Barnes said they wanted to offer "fresh products through new alliances". He added that they believed there was till a log more they could do to boost sales. Waterford Wedgwood is also collaborating with Irish fashion designer John Rocha, Jasper Conran and the Andy Warhol foundation. Dublin-based Waterford is looking at ways to in back trade after woldwide crystal sales fell 6.4% to 158.9 in the half of 2002. Sales in Germany fell by 14.4%. The group said that despite the downturn in trade, it had produced a considerable improvement on the disappointing interim figures which led to job cuts.
