Water Resistance Of A New Nonlead Phosphate Sealing Glass

The water resistance and corrosion mechanism of a new non-lead phosphate sealing glass with a high chemical durability, high thermal expansion coefficient and low softening temperature, below 360 deg C was studied. The weight loss of the new phosphate glass in water is measured and the corrosion mechanism in water is discussed. Kinetic data and presence of a hydrated layer show that the glass dissolution is limited by surface reactions.
