Vitro Exhibits Home Made Of Glass

Vitro S.A. through its Spanish subsidiary Vitro Cristalglass & Spanish architect Luis de Garrido has created Vitrohouse, a home built entirely of glass. The project was successfully displayed 11-16 April at Construmat in Barcelona. First envisioned two years ago, the project took shape thanks to Vitro Cristalglass, the company chosen by Garrido to produce the glass. "The Barcelona Fair, responsible for organizing Construmat, became interested in the project & offered us space free of charge to display the house" said Vitro's Alberto Gómez. The house was built almost entirely of laminated glass (3x8mm plates). Walls, floors, & ceilings were made of laminated glass in different colors & thickness. Almost the entire construction process, which took a month, was carried out by PKV, who specialise in large scale glass installation, such as in airports, etc.
