This article takes a look at the situation in Vietnam, with regard to flat glass manufacture and supply. Vietnam has already built up capacity to meet domestic demand and leave some for export, yet pricing for the domestic market remains a major issue following manufacturer's unsuccessful efforts to cope with the government imposed higher fuel prices and the manufacturers' present difficulty in replacing old energy-wasting machinery and equipment. Vietnam's glass industry has suffered from massive oversupply at a time when the market has fallen flat. However, as awareness increases, the country's secondary glass processing is beginning to evolve.
