Vidrala President Agrees To Discuss Possiblity Of Local Interest In Glass Company

The President and majority shareholder of Vidrala, Carlos Delclaux, is set to visit Ireland and will be discussing the future of the former Quinn Glass Factory (Encirc) and the possibility of local participation and potential economic interest in it with local delegates. The news came just two days after a public meeting was held to highlight concerns over the future of the business in Co. Fermanagh. On Thursday, 15 January, local delegates met with QBRC to discuss their options and to ask that local concerns be relayed to the President of Vidrala. Director of the Quinn Business Retention Company (QBRC), John McCartin said that he had spoken with Vidrala President, Carlos Delclaux and had been informed that Delclaux intended to visit Ireland at the end of this month. He said that Delclaux had also indicated that he would be prepared to engage with QBRC and the local community on the future of the former Quinn Glass Factory and also to look at the prospect of local participation and the possibility of securing a local economic interest in it. McCartin described his discussions with Delclaux as ‘very positive”.
