Ardagh Group reported revenue of 1.281bn/Euros in the second quarter of 2014 - an increase of 28% over the same period 2013. In its half-year financial report it added that the acquisition of VNA was strategically important: It further expands its glass manufacturing footprint in N America, strengthens the existing relationships with global customers and develops its product portfolio. From the date the acquisition closed, VNA contributed revenue of 269m/Euros and EBITDA of 49m/Euros to Ardagh's results for the 6m ended 30 June 2014. VNA, which has its headquarters in Muncie, Indiana, USA, is the second largest glass container manufacturer in the US. It produces around nine billion containers annually from its 13 factories located throughout the US. VNA has annual revenues of around 1.2bn/Euros. In its outlook, Ardagh said near-term forecasts for economic growth are mixed. Most EU economies are expected to remain relatively subdued, while the US economy rebounded in the second quarter.
