The Use Of Optical Basicity To Estimate The Viscosities Of Glasses And Melts

The optical basicity has been used in the development of a model to estimate viscosities of glasses in the temperature range between Tlig and Tg. It is also shown that the viscosities of molten borates and borosilicates can be estimated from the optical basicity and the latter can also be used to predict the viscosities of various glasses as well as mean thermal expansion coefficients.
