Use Of Different Sulfates In Soda Lime Glasses

The effect of calcium, barium, and iron sulfates on the melting and fining of colourless and coloured container glasses was compared with that of sodium sulfate. At melting temperatures above 1440 deg C, calcium sulfate gave better fining than sodium sulfate in colourless glasses.
