Usa - Silica Sand Gets Green Light For Mining

After more than a year of delay, the city of Ottawa has suddenly granted its blessing to a request by US Silica to expand its mining operations south of the Illinois River. The Ottawa City Council recently unanimously approved the sand mining company's request, which had been tabled since Sept/02, to rezone 51 acres of land.
