Saint-Gobain Containers has, with the help of funding sponsored by local legislators during the last legislative session, created a performance-based, annual incentive of US$ 1.2M for the next 10 years, completing an agreement to keep its glass container manufacturer in the parish of Simsboro, Lincoln for another 10 years. The incentive partially accounts for the costs of modernising the facility to enable it to stay competitive in the container market. On the other hand, the company must maintain at least 350 jobs at the facility with the average salaries of more than US$51,000 plus benefits, through the term of the agreement. Further abatements that exempted the company from local sales and taxes on certain equipment and machinery were granted by the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and the Lincoln Parish School Board.
