The US Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiencies & Renewable Energy is seeking applications for cost-shared research and development of technologies that will reduce energy consumption, reduce environmental impacts and enhance the economic competitiveness of the country's glass industry. The research is to address a wide range of topics within glass manufacturing, which have been derived from research priorities identified by the glass industry in the "Glass Industry Technology Roadmap", available on: www.eere.energy.gov/industry/glass/pdfs/glass2002roadmap.pdf - Potential benefits of research must be realised in manufacturing processes, not in end-use applications. Proposals for pure glass product development research will not be considered. Around $400,000 in the fiscal year 2005 is available.
