Flabeg Solar US Corp, formerly Naugatuck Glass Co, has announced it plans to add about 80 jobs to its workforce of 92 employees & is seeking a federal grant to help its expansion. The company, which aims to develop more solar mirror panels for large-scale renewable energy products, will also form a partnership with the University of Connecticut to train students in green energy technology. Company executives said that public investment in the plant will allow it to expand into the growing solar energy market which is already an important part of the company's sales. In 2009, Flabeg saw solar product sales of US$ 126M; US$ 99M in automotive sales & about US$ 23M in technical glass sales such as cosmetic products.
