Parents concerned about baby's health are looking again at glass feeding bottles, prompted by fears about a chemical in the unbreakable polycarbonate baby bottles which replaced glass long ago in most US households. A report entitled "Toxic Baby Bottles" released in February 2007 by a Los Angeles environmental advocacy group helped build new interest. Following publication, websites selling glass bottles saw a boom in business & prices jumped on eBay. Evenflo, a maker of both glass & plastic baby bottles, saw a leap in demand for glass. The report by the Environment California Research & Policy Center in Los Angeles said lab tests show that the plastic bottles leach bisphenol A, or BPA, "at dangerous levels found to cause harm in numerous animal studies".
