[Usa] Anchor Glass Furnace Rebuild Finished Ahead Of Schedule

Anchor Glass announced in November/03 the completion of a furnace rebuild at its Lawrenceburg, Indiana, facility. The upgrade, which was finished ahead of schedule, is expected to improve productivity, cut costs and boost the plant's capability as a critical supplier to Anchor's premier spirits customers. The Lawrenceburg plant, which began the upgrade in October/03, has approximately 250 employees, and produces mainly liquor containers. The furnace was last rebuilt 14 years ago. Some of the infrastructure, including the crown of the furnace, did not need to be replaced, speeding up the project. Anchor is the third largest manufacturer of glass containers in the US. It has 9 facilities where it produces a wide range of flint, amber, green and other coloured glass containers for beers, beverages, food, liquor and FAB markets.
