[Usa] Anchor Glass Container Corp - Alleged Clean Air Infringements

Anchor Glass Container Corp. has been named by the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 for alleged clean-air violations at the company's Lawrenceburg, Indiana manufacturing plant. EPA alleges that Anchor failed to comply with a number of requirements in its state operating permit. EPA discovered the alleged infringements during a plant inspection in November 2004. "EPA's mission is to protect public health and the environment," said Acting Regional Administrator Bharat Mathur. "We will take whatever steps are needed to ensure compliance with the Clean Air Act." The violation findings are preliminary, and to resolve them, EPA may issue a compliance order, assess an administrative penalty or file a lawsuit against the company. The company has 30 days from receipt of the notice to meet the EPA in order to discuss resolving the allegations.
