The world's largest all-electric glass melter is now in operation at the new Cameron Family Glass Packaging (CFGP) wine bottle plant in Kalama, Washington State. With design and key equipment supplied by UK-based Electroglass Ltd, the furnace has been installed and commissioned in conjunction with its US distributors Frazier Simplex Inc and has a rated output of 254 metric/tpd (280 US/tpd). Electroglass MD Richard Stormont said: "This melter is twice the size of its nearest relative, with several unique design features. however, with just some batch composition adjustments during commissioning, stable melting conditions were established and we are delighted with the design, ease of operation, and its performance. Glass quality is well within specifications and energy efficiency even better than we predicted."
