United Glass is supporting local organisations around its Alloa manufacturing plant in Scotland by sponsoring the award for Best Business in the Community at the Forth Valley Business Awards March/04. To win the award, companies based in the Forth Valley must demonstrate their commitment to the community in which they operate. This can be done through initiative that promote community development, staff volunteering, community access to company facilities or green initiatives to improve the environment. UG Marketing Manager, David Batey, said: "UG is the largest private employer in Clackmannanshire and a business which takes pride in its environmental credentials. For both those reasons, we are delighted to help promote further those local businesses, large and small, which are committed to working in the interests of the Forth Valley community."
