A study has been made of the main features of ultrasonic processing of hot-pressed glass-ceramic materials and vitreous silica and it was shown that the introduction of a strengthening phase by such techniques increases the resistance to dynamic loading in both types of material. The abrasive material for ultrasonic treatment of glass-ceramics should consist of powdered boron carbide.
