Hostomel Auto Logistic has announced it plans to build a float glass plant in the Chernihiv region, Ukraine, to be completed in 3-5y. According to Dmytro Oliynyk, who owns 34% interest in Hostomel, the plant will have capacity to produce 600/tpd rising to 1,200/tpd a day within 2-3y. This is almost twice the capacity of Lysychansk Glass Factory, the dominant player on the Ukrainian market. Hostomel is seeking financing for the US$ 278M project & will also provide some investment. The remaining part is expected to be secured by attracting an investor that will take a stake in the project. Other than Oliynyk, who is also president of Steklo Ukrainy, a glass industry association. Plans to build a US$ 400M float glass plant in Donetsk region had been announced previously by Altcom group, which said imports from China currently account for 70% of Ukraine's glass market.
