Uk Packaging Waste Recovery And Recycling Targets For 2002

The UK intends to recovery nearly 5m/tonnes of packaging waste in 2002 as a result of new business recovery and recycling targets announced recently by Environment Minister, Michael Meacher. Businesses will have to meet targets of 59% recovery and 19% material-specific recycling of packaging waste under the Packaging Regulations. These replace the 2001 targets of 56% recovery and 18% material-specific recycling.
