The start of 2010 marked the official opening of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, which features over 1.8M/ft2 of glass supplied by Guardian Industries of the USA. The building, located in Dubai, features Guardians SunGuard Solar Silver 20 and its ClimaGuard NLT Low-E glass, which provide an anti-glare shield for the strong desert sun, as well as a high light reflectance to keep the buildings interior from overheating. The glass is also designed to withstand extreme desert temperature swings and strong winds. Guardian confirmed that this is one of the largest orders of coated glass in its history - the glass being produced in Germany & Luxembourg.
