Turkmenistan Adds Central Asia Float Glass Capacity

At the end of 2016, Turkmen Insaat started construction of Turkmenistan's first ever float glass factory, with a planned capacity of 250/tpd. In government plans, this amount will allow the facility not only to meet local building industry demand in full, but also establish export opportunities - primarily across the CIS region. As this article explains, however, when the plans were originally designed, the situation of the float glass market in Central Asia and Caucasus regions was rather different, a fact that potentially could challenge the entire project.
