Pontefract-based APEGG has recently launched a specialist mould design training course, where students are instructed about and learn the principles of container design all the way through to the design of mould equipment parts. The comprehensive course is fully detailed and documented and students are involved in practical situations. Ultimately, students should be able to design ar ound bottle for blow-blow and a round jar for press-blow production, all without guidance. Alternatively, the course can be adjusted to cover a narrow neck press-blow design. Examples of topics covered include mould design function, types of mould cooling, understanding container requirements, finish specifications, mould equipment parts, top tool selection, mould materials, design and alteration, shaped ware and parison design. A formal end of course assessment will be made and a document published on the progress achieved throughout the period of training. Once students have returned to the workplace, APEGG offers a 12 months remote assistance programme, where continued guidance is provided. Again, after completion of the 12 months period, a written report is produced, indicating the progress made. Each course can be tailored to meet individual customer requirements.
