Training - Centre Of Excellence Set To Come On Stream

A new initiative, partly funded by the Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward, will enable a centre of excellence for glass to become fully operational by April 2000. The new centre is based in the building of the British Glass Manufacturer's Confederation in Sheffield & will combine the facilities, technical knowledge & skills of the staff of Glass Technology Services (Glass Technology Services Ltd) with the training & management skills of GTL, the industry's National Training Organisation. The centre's operations & facilities will ultimately be available on an international basis for all companies in the glass industry sector. The main focus of the centre is to facilitate a strategy of "learning for all" with the objective of improving an individual's learning and skills, benefiting both the individual & their employer.
