Traditional Refractory Materials Re-Evaluated

Glass melting furnaces rely upon a variety of refractory materials, which provide important high-temperature properties. Refractory products protect the intended structure against thermal, mechanical and chemical stress and must also be compatible with the glass fusion process. In this article the author discusses some promising new materials under development or being evaluated in service.
