Titanium Metals, Their Behaviour And Basic Corrosion Tests In The Glass Melt And Atmosphere

The paper provides general information on pure technical titanium and some of its alloys, basic static and dynamic corrosion tests in glass melts, such as of potassium sodium crystal, lead crystal (24%), borosilicate and container amber glass, and atmospheres of those glass melts. In some parts, the corrosion tests are carried out also in comparison with heat-resisting steels frequently used in glassmaking. The paper also bears upon the basic measurement of corrosion in typical environments of glass batch components, monitoring of wettability and surface tension, and the adhesion temperature on the metal-glass interface.
