Considered the main American exponent of Art Nouveau, Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) dedicated a large part of his creativity to the production of glass objects of all sorts. Born into an artistic background his father was a well-known jeweller who also created objects in silver, ceramic and glass. Tiffany transferred his conception of beauty into glass vases, windows, lamp shades and mosaics. By using new and old techniques, he cut and cased, plated and mottled, twisted and rolled and "invented" different types of glass to produce masterpieces of great artistic value for private and public.
