Thai Glass Industry Comes To Terms With Economic Turmoil

The glass industry in Thailand is currently going through a difficult period as the whole country tries to come to terms with the nation's worst economic downturn in 50 years. The economic slowdown, which has clearly affected the glass end-users such as the soft drinks, construction and automotive industries, has led to a large decline in domestic glass consumption. In addition, Thai glass companies have been unable to reap the benefits of the cheaper Baht due to the weakening of neighbouring countries' currencies and the rising cost of imports.
