Technological Developments In The Production Of Scientific Glassware

Despite the apparent variety presented in car showrooms, the normal arrangement for the manufacturing industry outside the process sector is one in which many components are brought together to create a limited number of finished products. By way of contrast, the manufacture of scientific glassware requires the production of very many different items from a comparatively simple list of initial materials, typically tubing, pressed pieces and blownware. These items, which are themselves products obtained from the glass melting furnaces, are then cut, shaped and altered in a variety of ways to give a huge list of finished products from a simple test tube or beaker at one end to an automatic burette at the other.
