Dissolved water in glass is relevant for degassing behaviour on re-heating, for the behaviour of bubbles and foam in glass melts, for heat transfer by radiation and for the mechanism of weathering of glass articles. As such, it has been studied extensively the TC 14 committee of the ICG. This article discusses the various glass types involved, as well as giving the equations concerning water concentration, and its absolute accuracy.
