Therefore, it is clear that energy consumption and management is set to be a critical business issue for the sector going forward. This article reports how Siemens recently undertook research into attitudes and approaches to energy management across the glass industry. The findings highlight how many glass manufacturers are now taking consumption responsibilities seriously as rising costs, compliance with forthcoming Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and supply pressures conspire to ensure energy remains a top business priority.
