Switzerland - Glass And Wood

Like other materials already discussed, glass consumption and the value of this sector of the industry has witnessed considerable fluctuations. The decade began with consumption at 130 million Euro, which by 2001 had grown to nearly 150 million Euro. A major facility closure in 2002 resulted a drop to 90 million Euro, and indeed a shortage of capacity. Although the sector recovered to around 110 million Euro in 2004, subsequent years have shown reductions to the extent that by 2010 the value will be the same low level of 2002, with real growth thereafter unlikely. Switzerland has strong and established returns and re-use systems, especially for bottlers from the alcohol and soft drinks sectors.
